Visitation Policy

Governing Body Mandates

1. The Family of Friends Inc. must comply with and strictly follow any laws or mandates issued by the Governor, geographical governing bodies i.e., Seminole County as well as those issued by our licensing Agency (AHCA) in regards to visitation limitation and personal protective equipment use for as long as those mandates are in place concerning COVID-19 or other any other future pandemic related outbreaks.

Infection Control and Education Policy for Visitors

2. The Family of Friends Inc. upholds the freedom of our residents, staff and visitors to follow whatever personal protection measures they feel comfortable with when no mandate is in place by the aforementioned governing bodies in item 1.

Residents and visitors are free to educate themselves on infection control and decide for themselves what they choose to adopt for safe measures in preventing the spread of infectious diseases. The Family of Friends Inc. does not mandate infection control education as part of a requirement to reside at or visit residents at The Family of Friends Inc. Staff is required to receive training in infection control as it is required for our licensure.

We as an Assisted Living Facility (ALF) do not require anyone to use or not use a mask or other personal protective equipment while on the premises or outside of the premises. We reserve the right and decision to be that of the individual and not that of the Family of Friends Inc. when no mandate is in place at the time by licensing and governing bodies mentioned in item 1.

The Family of Friends Inc. considers the right of our residents, visitors and staff to be vaccinated or not be vaccinated as their own personal choice. The Family of Friends Inc. does not mandate vaccination or non-vaccination as part of the requirement to work, visit or reside at our facility.

Visitation

3. The Family of Friends Inc, has no mandates or restrictions on visitation nor practices “screenings” as a requirement for visitation as related to COVID-19 or any future pandemic outbreak while no mandate is in place by the aforementioned governing bodies in item 1.

We respect and are highly sensitive to the rights of our residents, their family, friends and any designated essential caregivers to visit one another at The Family of Friends Inc. in close personal proximity or consensual physical contact for any length of time and by any number of visitors that they choose that is considerate of others and not disruptive to our residents and staff.

A benchmark of 11pm has been set for visitors to exit is the facility to be considerate of other residents’ sleep schedule. However, this is not set in stone and visitors may stay for a reasonable time past 11pm if it is not disruptive to residents and staff. Visitors are never allowed to sleep overnight at The Family of Friends Inc.

We have an “open door” policy in which our residents, their family members, friends or designated essential caregivers are free to come and go as they please and visit one another outside of the Family of Friends Inc. at any location and length of time of their choosing.

Residents and/or their legal guardians are allowed to accept or reject anyone of their choosing for visitation. Only those who have violated the visitation policy previously will be asked to sign a visitation policy agreement upon reentry of the facility. Further violation of visitation policies after signing an agreement may exclude them from further visitation at the discretion of the Administrator.

The acting Administrator of The Family of Friends Inc. will be designated to ensure staff compliance with all Visitation Policies and Procedures.
